[one of the orbital elevators is where you see the guy (main character, Setsuna F. Seiei) falling in the 1st 8 seconds of this video, there is a long pillar a.k.a Heaven's Pillar connecting the Earth and Satellite].

With this infinite source of energy benefiting only the major powers and their allies, constant warfare around the globe for fuels and energy lead to the formation of a private military organization, called Celestial Being, dedicated to eradicating war and unite humanity with the use of four machines called Gundams
